Easter in Herefordshire!

Springtime brings the promise of new life and beginnings with Easter marking the real start of the holiday season! It’s the time of year Lucksall will be brimming with excitement so what better time to explore what the local area has to offer.

If you’re feeling energetic why not climb the 218 steps of the Hereford Cathedral Tower for some of the finest views of the city? Whilst there you can visit the lantern gallery, Chained Library exhibition and the famous Mappa Mundi.

If you have little ones then Kington Small Breeds Farm Park is for you. Here the kids can get up close and personal with fluffy chicks, rabbits, lambs and even owls. Or if you have a budding historian roam through history at Goodrich Castle and Eastnor Castle – hunt around the grounds for clues and be rewarded with a chocolate treat at the end!

Alternatively, why not embark on a river adventure? The route along the River Wye will take some beating. With breathtaking scenery en-route it’s a brilliant stretch to explore via SUP, canoe or kayak. If you don’t have your own to bring then fear not – there are plenty of local companies that offer equipment hire.

If you’d rather keep your feet on dry land then Haugh Woods is only a mere 5-minute drive away. With 350 hectares of mixed woodland, over 600 species of butterflies & moths and easy walking trails it’s perfect for all the family.

Rain stopped play? Never! If it is too wet to enjoy the outdoors then there are plenty of indoor activities for the family to enjoy. Younger children can make the most of soft play at Play Planet or the Hereford Leisure Centre. Or if you fancy yourself as a top bowler, take on the lanes at MFA Bowl or The Grove. Head over to the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo where you can walk with exotic butterflies from around the world, kept at tropical temperatures- it’s like being abroad!

And let’s not forget about what Hereford is famous for – cider! The cider orchards in Herefordshire are said to produce over half the cider consumed in the UK! The Herefordshire Cider Route is one of the best ways to sample the county’s offering. With highlights including a trip to the Cider Museum, Weston’s Cider and Oliver’s Cider & Perry.

Whether you’re an outdoor adventurer, history buff or drink connoisseur there is something for everyone in Herefordshire and the Wye Valley this Easter.
