October 2018
Herefordshire is renowned for cider orchards and producing a selection of delicious cider – especially this time of the year there is a hide of activity when the apples are being harvested.
Some of these apples go to Westons Cider which is a family owned business located about 15-minutes drive from Lucksall. Like our park, Weston’s is located within the Herefordshire countryside, so you can be sure to experience some additional stunning scenery from our local area on your journey.
We visited Westons and booked the Cider Mill Tour, followed by lunch in their restaurant. Our tour guide, Ruth, was very welcoming and gave us lots of information as she led the guided tour around the Cider Mill. During the session, we learnt how the apples are turned into the award-winning cider, and the history of how Westons became the successful business it is today. We also had the opportunity to sample some ciders and perry afterwards in the gift shop – purchased some bottles to take home and enjoy!
The Scrumpy House Restaurant served a delicious lunch followed by dessert. We left feeling very full, but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. If you’re interested in doing a tour during your stay at Lucksall, promotional leaflets can be found in our information hut.
